Plans for 2021

New year, new decade (We all agree 2020 doesn’t count, right?) and I do have some hobby related plans. Keep reading if you want to know about them!

I do have a horrible track record on updating the blog with my hobby resolutions. I do have my reasons, but you don’t care about them. Suffice it to say that I believe things are in a place now where I’ll be able to make regular updates.

I don’t want to make very open hobby resolutions, as those haven’t worked very well previous years. I also don’t want to make a very thingt plan, as things will change during the year and I want to be able to adapt to them.

I’ll just have a few key points to set a path, with some specific projects I’ve wanted to do for a long time that for one reason or another I keep pushing back.

  • As in previous attempts, I want to make a monthly (or so) updates here to track how my resolutions are going.

Every summer I get together with at least one of my high school friends who have gone to life far enough that seen them regularly is not an easy option. Usually August. And we get together to play some games. Usually of the coop variety.

A couple of years ago we played Blackstone Fortress. It was a fun game, but we usually prefer the fantasy games. Talking about Warhammer Quest Silver Tower, my friend got excited about it. It’s been a long time on hold because with moving houses I didn’t know where all the minis where. I believe I’ve found all of them now. So, my first hobby resolution is to…

  • Paint all the models from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower before August.

And to showcase how easily plans might change, in the time it took me to sit down and write this post, GW has announced Warhammer Quest: Cursed City and it looks amazing! So I’ll double down and also say that I’ll…

  • Purchase and Paint all the models from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.

Another boardgame I’d love to play whith painted miniatures, but never finish, is Kingdom Death: Monster. Will this be the year I get it done? Let’s hope I’ll…

  • Paint all the enemies and 4 survivors from the Kingdom Death: Monster Core Game.

Besides miniatures, another one of my childhood passions were comics. And while it’s been a long time since I’ve cared about the Marvel Comics my love for the characters still endures. So obviously, I got into Marvel Crisis Protocol. And it’s a great game!

For those that don’t know about the game, before a game you choose a pool of 10 characters from which you’ll make your actual roster once you know the missions and point limit you’ll be playing. And as 10 is a nice, round number, I’ll…

  • Paint 10 miniatures from Marvel Crisis Protocol.

And this ties nicely with my more open ended goal. I want to paint at least 10 models for MCP so I can play the game with painted models. As I like to try multiple games and what I like, or am excited about changes, I’ll just say that I’d like to…

  • Paint the models I need for the games I regularly play.

If I’m able to do that, it’ll be a huge achievement. And that brings me to my last resolution.

I’ve always been trying to play with painted models. That has meant that the models on top of my queue always are from some game I’m playing. They’re models I feel I “need” to paint. Of course they’re models I like (mostly), as I 99% choose the factions I like the looks of. But I feel like it’s been a long time since I painted a model just because I wanted to. I want to change that, so this year I’ll…

  • Paint 10 models I want to paint.

Without worrying if they’re for a game I.m going to play or not. I do have some cool random models.

And that’s it. I wanted to keep it short, but I believe I didn’t. But, and this is a big but, I’ve kept it shorter than I would usually do. So that’s some progres there!
